Introduction
It might sound obvious, but you are alive. But don’t just think about being alive, think about the fact that you are life. You are a biological entity. You are a living, breathing, eating, drinking, sleeping form composed of cells. It is necessary to think in this way, if you are to fully understand the human condition and why it is necessary and vital to find, listen to and heed your life force.
Comparison - Human With a Tree
Let’s compare you with a tree.
I’m sure you would agree and accept that a tree is a living entity. It is born from a seed, as are you.
It requires energy, which you do too. Whilst a tree’s energy is derived from the sunlight, water and nutrients in the soil, your energy is derived from food, water and sunlight in the form of vitamin D.
In that, we are the same — the tree and us.
The Needs of a Seed If It Is To Flourish
To become a tree, the seed must exist in fertile ground.
If the soil is of poor quality, lacking the vital minerals and nutrients, then, although the seed will still grow, it will not perform and grow to its full potential.
Once it begins to grow, the young sapling requires constant energy and nourishment, in addition to water. It requires a space into which it can grow unencumbered. The sapling requires sunlight — the more the better it will grow.
It requires the right climatic conditions — neither too hot nor not too cold. The sapling needs to be protected from the worst of the elements that threaten it. It must remain flexible to allow it to bend with the winds that otherwise could snap it or uproot it.
The sapling may be vulnerable to predation or other attacks from the outside. Deer, rabbits, voles that gnaw its bark, chew its leaves as well as diseases and attacks from insects that seek its pulp for their own use.
As the sapling grows it matures and becomes a tree. It continues to fight for space into which it must continue to grow and it fights for the sunlight, the giver of energy.
Nurturing Growth
Imagine that you are growing a tree orchard.
You have planted seeds and watched them grow into healthy thriving saplings. But now, you taint the soil in which they grow. You deny them the sunlight that they seek. You starve them of the water for which they thirst. How well will your saplings grow in these circumstances?
How non-sensical would this be? To attack the trees in this way. To sabotage their growth.
Why then, do we do that to our children and do it to ourselves as adults?
We must recognise that we too are life and treat ourselves as such.
We need the right kind of nourishment.
Adequate sleep.
Exercise to build muscle, lung capacity and efficiency.
We need a protective and safe environment that allows each of us to thrive.
We need love and acceptance of who we are.
To grow fully and to develop into the best version of yourself, you need these things. Limit any one of them, and the grow is diminished. This is the way of life. We are life, so the way is our way.

Fundamental Purpose
Throughout its life — from seed to tree — it has never ceased to understand its fundamental purpose. It is programmed, it is encoded into its very DNA. To grow. To become all that it can be. To always reach for the sunlight. To become everything that was preordained at the moment the seed fell from its giver.
Human Purpose
In this, we too, as humans, as life forms, have the same obligations. Our life is encoded into our DNA.
We too must grow because it is ordained by nature.
We need to receive nurture, care and love when we are young.
We need to be protected from the elements and provided with shelter.
We require sleep to recharge, to mend and for growth.
We require the right kind of nourishment — the type that will fuel our growth potential — not poison us.
And we too must seek out our true purpose.
The purpose of the seed is to become a tree — its life force tells it this.
That of the embryo is to become human and to listen to our own life force. That voice that urges us to be more. To grow and to become all that we were destined to become.
"To grow is to be human. To grow is to be alive. To grow is to be life."
